Relevance | Histone deacetylase 1 is an nuclear enzyme encoded by the Hdac1 gene (also known as HD1, RPD3, MommeD5, Hdac1-ps) in mouse and HDAC1 (also known as GoON-10, RPD3L1) gene in human. Hdac1 plays an important role in epigenetic regulation of gene expression by catalyzing the hydrolysis of N(6)-acetylated histone lysine residues. Hdac1 is also known to deacetylate p53 and thereby downregulate p53 activity. |
