Relevance The anti-9G8 antibody recognizes the member of the serine/arginine (SR) splicing factor family 9G8. In addition to being critical for both constitutive splicing and alternative splicing of many pre-mRNAs, the SR splicing factor 9G8 has been shown to be involved in mRNA export from the nucleus and in translation. The 9G8 factor contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for binding RNA and an RS domain for binding other proteins. The RS domain is rich in serine and arginine residues and facilitates interaction between different SR splicing factors.
