Relevance The Monoclonal anti‐ERß (D‐region) Clone 8ERß‐2B5 reacts on ERß from mouse in western blot and immunofluorescence. No cross‐reactivity has been observed on ER alpha. Estrogen receptors are activated by the hormone estrogen (17β-estradiol). Once activated by estrogen, the ER is able to translocate into the nucleus and acts as a a DNA-binding transcription factor. ERa and ERb regulate gene transcription by direct binding to estrogen-regulated elements (ERE) or indirectly by protein-protein interaction with transcription factor activator protein-1 (AP-1) and Sp1. Estrogens are important for mammary gland morphogenesis and differentiation.
