Anti-Elafin polyclonal antibody

Invented by Gijs Johannes de Jongh
Invented at Radboud UMC

Info

Catalogue Number 160399
Applications Fn
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Elafin; SKALP
Synonyms Elastase-specific inhibitor (ESI), Peptidase inhibitor 3 (PI-3), Protease inhibitor WAP3,Skin-derived antileukoproteinase (SKALP), WAP four-disulfide core domain protein 14
Reactivity N/A
Relevance Some anti-elastase activity is found in cultured keratinocytes and in epidermis from psoriasis patients, but not in normal human epidermis. This inhibitory effect has been shown to be mediated by SKALP, Skin-derived antileukoproteinase also known as Elafin.
Host Rabbit
Immunogen human SKALP/Elafin derived from psoriatic scales
Molecular Weight (kDa) 18kDa
Notes This polyclonal antibody was raised against human SKALP (Elafin) protein extracted from human psoriatic scales and shown to inhibit human leukocyte elastase. It was sequenced and shown to have 40% homology with the active site of antileukoproteinase (ALP) a known serine proteinase inhibitor present in mucous secretions.
Research Area Dermatology
Immunogen UniProt ID P19957
