Relevance SNF2H is a human homolog of the budding yeast Snf2 protein, and is a member of the SWI/SNF family of proteins. The members of this family have helicase and ATPase activities and are thought to regulate transcription of certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around those genes. SNF2H is the catalytic subunit of several chromatin remodelling complexes, such as CHRAC, RSF, ACF, NuRD and NoRC. SNF2H is similar in sequence to the Drosophila ISWI chromatin remodelling protein.
