Mutant DISC1 cell line

Info

Catalogue Number 156416
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets disrupted-in-schizophrenia 1 (DISC1)
Parental Line PC12
Disease Keywords Schizophrenia
Relevance To evaluate the effects of a predicted protein, mutant disrupted-in-schizophrenia 1 (DISC1), stable PC12 cell clones with inducible expression of mutant or full-length human DISC1 (hDISC1) have been generated. PC12 is a neuronal cell line derived from a pheochromocytoma of the rat brain. This technology includes an inducible Tet-off PC12 cell model with stable expression of full-length and truncated hDISC1, allowing for a regulated expression of hDISC1 in homogenous populations of cells. Inducible expression of DISC1 in PC12 cells is a valuable in vitro model for further studying the molecular mechanisms likely due to loss of function of DISC1 relevant to the pathogenesis of major mental illnesses.
