The Forssman Antigen is a glycolipid heterophil protein and a type of heterogenetic antigen found in certain animals like dogs, horses, cats, turtles and sheep, including enteric organisms such as pneumococci. In sheep, it is found on erythrocytes but not on tissue and organs, unlike hamsters and guinea pigs whose organ cells do carry the antigen.

Notes
|
Derived by fusing Mouse myeloma cells with spleen cells from a Rat. Clone 33B12 detects overlapping epitopes on the Forssman glycolipid hapten (GalNA1- c3aG alNAcD1 -3GalaI-4GalB1-4GlcBl-lCer). Clone 33B12 reacts with the terminal sugar sequence GalNAcd-3GalNAc and is specific for Forssman antigen.
