Info

Catalogue Number 153990
Applications IP WB
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Omentin
Synonyms Intelectin-1, ITLN1, hIntL-1
Reactivity Human, Mouse and Rat
Relevance Monoclonal antibody which detects omentin, linked to diabetes.

Background and Research Application
Omentin (human intelectin-1) is a secreted glycoprotein involved in the innate immune system as well as enhancing insulin-stimulated glucose uptake. Highly expressed in small intestine and adipose tissue and present at lower levels in testis, heart, pancreas, colon and skeletal muscle, intelectin-1 exists as a disulphide-linked homotrimer that functions to enhance insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and is also thought to participate in host defence against microorganisms. Serum levels of omentin are negatively correlated with obesity, suggesting a role in diabetes. More recently, omentin has been shown to interact with glycans on pathogenic bacteria.
Host Mouse
Immunogen recombinant omentin
Immunogen UniProt ID Q8WWA0
Subclass IgG
Molecular Weight (kDa) 120 kDa (trimer), 37 kDa (monomer)
Notes Production Details
Purified using multi-step affinity chromatography with protein A.

Storage Conditions
Store at -20 degrees frozen. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Points of Interest
Having conserved ligand binding site residues, both human and mouse intelectin-1 bind the exocyclic vicinal diol of carbohydrate ligands such as galactofuranose.

Concentration
1mg/ml as standard
Research Area Bacteriology, Cardiovascular, Immunology, Metabolism, Microbiology
