hTau P301S Mouse Model

Invented at Medical Research Council

Info

Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Tau Gene
Disease Keywords Alzheimer's, Pick's, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinsonism
Synonyms hTau P301S, Thy1-hTau P301S
Model Transgenic
Relevance Mutation P301S in exon 10 of the Tau gene has been shown to be involved in early clinical signs linked to frontotemporal dementia and parkinsonism with chromosome 17 (FTDP-17). This is characterised in the transgenic hTau P301S model, which exhibits the essential features of a human Tauopathy. This in turn can be used to better understand the molecular mechanism by which mutant Tau protein causes dysfunction and death of nerve cells.
Mouse Genetic Background/Cross History Founder animals were intercrossed with C57BL/6J mice to establish lines. Homozygosity was determined by matings with nontransgenic animals
Zygosity Homozygous
Research Area Neurobiology
