In humans, this family of proteins are involved in several key biological processes such as cell adhesion, cell growth and differentiation, cellular recognition, apoptosis and angiogenesis. Recent studies have shown that CEACAM19 is upregulated, at the mRNA level, in ovarian and breast cancer.
