Applications IF WB
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM; CD56)
Synonyms Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule; NCAM; CD56 Antigen; MSK39
Reactivity Human
Relevance NCAM, also known as CD56, is a homophillic binding glycoprotein present on a variety of neural cells including neurons, glia, skeletal muscle and natural killer cells. NCAM has been implicated as having a role in cell-cell adhesion, neurite outgrowth, synatptic plasticity, learning and memory and in the development of the nervous system.
Host Mouse
Immunogen 16 week human foetal brain
Subclass IgG1
Molecular Weight (kDa) 180, 160, 120
Recommended Growing Conditions DMEM + 5%FCS
Notes Anti-NCAM [UJ13A] is a diagnostic reagent in the characterization of neuro-ectodermally derived tumours and in the identification of metastatic spread to the bone marrow. In addition UJ13A has been used in radio immunoscintigraphy of neuroblastoma and brain tumours and in targeted radiotherapy.
Research Area Adhesion, Cell Type or Organelle Marker, Cell Signaling & Signal Transduction, Neurobiology, Stem Cell Biology
