Relevance The Acute Traumatic Coagulopathy Rat is a preclinical model of massive bleeding and hypovolemic shock to conduct translational and discovery research of coagulopathy and measure the impact of systemic inflammatory response to injury and cellular hypoxia in the context of organ dysfunction. Acute traumatic coagulopathy (ATC) is an impairment of hemostasis that occurs early after injury and is associated with a 4-fold higher mortality, increased transfusion requirements and organ failure.
