Originating from Cancer Research Technology, Ximbio is an online portal for the life science community to exchange knowledge and trade reagents. Our mission is to unify the reagent community to make tools more widely and easily available in order to accelerate life science research.
Melanie Hardman, Head of Ximbio
Ongoing strategy of Ximbio and developing it to be a global success. Establishing the Ximbio website to become an "Amazon like” experience.
I joined Cancer Research Technology 9 years ago as I wanted to apply my commercial business development skills in a rewarding environment that makes a difference, CRUK. I lost my step-father to oesophageal cancer so I passionately believe in the positive impact research tools can have in advancing research into disease. I manage a creative group of individuals and like the agile nature of how we work as team and implement innovative solutions to challenges in the sector very quickly. I am very proud of the achievements CRT Reagents and now Ximbio continue to make as we grow.

I joined Ximbio as I wanted to be part of something that was innovative and addressed an unmet need in life science technology transfer. I like the agile nature of how the Ximbio website is developed, as new functionality is introduced every week that impacts and benefits users and stakeholders. I bring a wealth of TTO contacts as well as experience at completing licences OEM deals to bring in new products. I have had the fortune and misfortune to bring in both the gold and the turkeys in reference to research tools.

I bring my previous commercial experience and creative ideas to contribute to the continued success of Ximbio.

With my previous experience at Imperial Innovations, I wanted to be a part of Ximbio as I felt that it was a very unique and exciting opportunity within the technology transfer sector. I engage with a wide range of PIs and researchers in order to identify and source new reagents to commercialise through Ximbio. I also manage the pipeline of reagents entering our portfolio before they are added to the Ximbio website as well as completing MTA requests from academics. I like the innovative culture we have in Ximbio, we are all able to apply our ideas to enable better sourcing and sharing of research tools.
Chris Scoot, Development Operations Manager
Interpret and develop team idea’s into website features and increase efficiency through automation.
As a recent addition to the the Ximbio team, I got involved as I felt the concept of providing a platform for the commercialisation of reagents as well as an information resource for the life science community was unique. The vision, goals and culture within the team make Ximbio an enjoyable environment to work in. Coupled with the transformation of ideas into live features within a short cycle, it offers a great sense of achievement. My alternative outlook enables the development of ideas and accelerates the efficiency of website development. I also bring knowledge and experience from other sectors that can be leveraged, and a very positive attitude.
