- Description: Interferons (IFNs) were originally identified as proteins that induce an antiviral state in cells, but they also have important regulatory functions in the immune system. Type I IFN (predominantly IFN-ÄÂ? and IFN-ÄÂ?) and type II IFN (IFN-ÄÂ?) play critical roles in innate and adaptive immune response against viral infection in mammals. Unlike mammals fish have two type II interferons, IFN-ÄÂ? and IFN-ÄÂ?-related (IFN-ÄÂ?rel). IFN-ÄÂ? and IFN-ÄÂ?rel have recently been shown to play a role in protecting particular species of fish against infection by pathogens such as infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) and salmonid alphavirus 3 (SAV3). VAB4P2B4*E8 can be used to study IFN-ÄÂ?rel in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and Brown trout (Salmo trutta).
- Immunogen: ovalbumin-conjugated synthetic peptide-DLKRSYYQDR; peptide immunogen is 90% identical to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
- Isotype: IgG
- Myeloma used: P3X63Ag8.653
- Recommended controls: Western Blot-IFN-ÄÂ?rel recombinant; IHC- Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded fish head kidney and spleen
