Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV)
Synonyms Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus
Reactivity Virus
Relevance Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus (IPNV): IPNV is a severe viral disease of salmonid fish. It is caused by infectious pancreatic necrosis virus, which is a member of the Birnaviridae family. This disease mainly affects young salmonids, such as trout or salmon, of less than six months, although adult fish may carry the virus without showing symptoms. IPNV is highly contagious and found worldwide, but some regions have managed to eradicate or greatly reduce the incidence of disease.
Host Mouse
Immunogen Purified IPN virus
Positive Control Dot Blot, PIPNV positive tissue culture supernatants; Sandwich ELISA, suitable for use (Smail, Burnside, Watt & Munro 2003).
Subclass IgG1
Myeloma Used P3X63Ag8.653
Strain Balb/c
Notes Antibodies are cross reactive to serotypes A2, A3 and A5 of IPNV as reported by Ross, Thomson, Melvin & Munro (1991). No cross reactivity with infectious haematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) and viral haemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV). Recommended Usage Conditions: ELISA - neat; Dot Blot - neat; Western blot - neat.
