Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Human oncogene EJ Harvey-ras
Host Human
Tissue Breast
Disease Keywords Breast Cancer
Relevance SVCT-MI2 was established in 1987 from epithelial cells in breast milk secretions. The cells have been transfected by microinjection using SV40 DNA and a plasmid containing the neomycin gene and the human oncogene EJ Harvey-ras. After selection of G418-resistant colonies, the clone SVCT-MI2 was shown to be tumorigenic in nude mice. They also have the ability to grow anchorage-independent if cultured in soft agar.
Conditional No
Research Area Cancer, Cell Cycle, Drug Discovery & Development, Epigenetics & Nuclear Signalling
Growth/Phenotype Keywords Adherent
Recommended Growing Conditions RPMI 1640 or DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10µg / ml insulin + 5µg / ml hydrocortisone + 10% FBS. Subculture routine: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Note: cells may pile up when confluent.
