Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets Talin 1
Reactivity Human
Relevance Monoclonal antibody for investigation into cell adhesion with no cross reactivity with related talin 2 protein.

Background and Research Application
Talin 1 is a high molecular weight protein found in a variety of tissues and cell types. Talin 1 is essential for integrin-mediated cell adhesion, the assembly of actin filaments and in spreading and migration of various cell types, including fibroblasts and osteoclasts. Talin 1 also links lymphocytes at cell-cell contact points. The N-terminus of talin 1 contains elements for localization to cell-extracellular matrix junctions. The C-terminus contains binding sites for proteins such as beta-1-integrin, actin, and vinculin.
This antibody recognizes an epitope within the region of amino acids 482-655 of human talin-1. Anti-talin1 antibody can be used for specific detection of the focal adhesion protein talin 1.
